No Condoms In School. !

These days schools always talk about abstinence this and abstinence that. The big question is are they really getting a hold of the audience's attention or wasting time? During my time in school I had an abstinence organization come and talk in 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 11th. Did it work for the most of us? Hecks no! Because lets be real here the kids are starting at a younger age these days and its becoming very sad. I once asked one of my teachers why don't they just educate us about sex? Her response was, "The school board is afraid that parents might think its too inappropriate for our age." I mean we are in high school, two thirds of my school's girls were either pregnant or have had a miscarriage at least once. I think its time for a change. No matter how many diseases they say are out there, no matter how many abstinence organizations are out there; we aren't going to listen. I personally think many boys and girls should be educated about safe sex rather than speaking in terms of no sex. They should be able to know what condoms are used for and not think of them as just a piece of rubber or really cool balloons. Its time for a change in the school system because when you take a step back and look at the brighter picture America is number one in teen pregnancy and a sex education class might be of use, rather than an abstinence program.

  1. I agree with this we should be taught more about sex and not just no sex. I have seen a lot of pregnant students at my high school too and we even had sex ed. the thing is the tried to scare us away not help us understand what we need to know and ways to prevent pregnancy.

  2. Really cool balloons lmao. But yeah it might just be some school i know at my high school we had a nurse come in and talk to us about sex and stuff but no one really took her seriously. So i did really know what they could do at this point.

  3. @Emily yea I agree i don't know why they don't just educate us about it. I mean im pretty sure the faculty see every pregnant girl walking around the school. They should want to do something about it. The funny thing is they even encourage it. Everytime a girl gets pregnant they go "Awwwwww I can't wait, the baby is gonna be soooo cute!" Like are you serious? They forget that we are just kids turning into new adults and don't even support ourselves 100%.

  4. @Corey some schools are really afraid that were going to know too much. At least if our school made that effort to tell us about the rules and consequences about pregnancy; then maybe so many girls would be heading off to college just like us. But no if you ask anybody they would tell you that our school is number one in Lee County for having the most pregnant girls; majority of them being freshman. That's not even including the specialty schools for pregnant girls.

  5. This is so true. Girls these days are having kids way too young. The worst part is some of the girls don't even see anything wrong with it. Schools definitely need to educate their students more on safe sex.

  6. I totally agree, I feel like if they would inform teenagers more and stop hiding the truth. Teenagers would stop trying to find out for themselves what "sex" is really like, or how it feels. Schools definitely need to come to terms that sex is out there, you might as well acknowledge it.

  8. @Gigi i think our school board think it is a touchy subject and they might even think were too immature to learn about the subject.. im just saying if we are old enough to do it then they might as well educate us about it

  9. This could not be anymore true. Its so sad how they don't educate children about sex. I mean lets be real everyone is going to be doing it if thier not already and once your in middle school you know a lot about it. So why not take the incentive and actually teach the kids how to be smart and responsible?

  10. @Jessica you are so right... you know its just kids learning from kids thats the part that should be controlled. educating one child can lead to education a nation because we all gossip so much.
